I’ve been trying to think of an appropriate small, free gift to send along to customers who order the grain free, vegan dog treats I’m now baking and selling on Etsy (or at least attempting to sell!). I made a bandana for my first customer, but it took a couple hours to work up and it can’t be good business to send a free gift that takes longer to make than the item that was purchased!
After a bit of brainstorming, some internet research, and a little bit of custom yarn sculpting, I came up with a pattern I like and I whipped up a little dog bone charm to send to my customer.
After awhile I got to thinking, and I thought maybe some people would like the charm but not a whole batch of dog treats. It’s about 2×3″ with a little hanging loop, and it would fit perfectly in a lot of different places – rearview mirror, keychain, pocket book, christmas tree, pegboard gallery wall, and of course on a dog collar. My mother in law also gave me the idea that they would work well as a tag silencer too – I added one to Beauregard’s collar and it definitely doesn’t jingle like it used to.
I plan to customize these too – I have to work out an embroidery alphabet to be able to put the dog or dog owner’s initial in the center of the bone. Other stuff like a heart or star should be easy as well. Embroidering crochet stuff is a little tough, so I might work out a knit version some day too.
